Drug Take-Back Day

National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

The National Prescription Drug Take-Back is Saturday, October 24th, 2020 from 10:00 AM- 2:00 PM. Drug Take-Back Day address a critical public health issue and public safety. It also provides the community the opportunity to take unused, unwanted, and expired prescription and over the counter medications and dispose of them safely. The Drug Enforcement Agency’s Take Back Day event provides an opportunity for Americans to prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths.

According to a study conducted in 2018 by the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 9.9 million Americans misused controlled prescription drugs. The study found that the majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends and at-home medicine cabinets. This year Drug Take-Back Day is also accepting Juuls, e-cigarettes, and vapes. Today would be a perfect start for someone who wants to quit smoking and start a better tomorrow by disposing of their e-cigarette device. When dropping off all e-cigarettes and vapes, please ensure the batteries are taken out of the device. The device will ONLY be accepted if the batteries are taken out.
