What are the 8 Dimensions of Wellness?

Useful Strategies to Lower Stress & Risk of Substance Abuse 

The 8 Dimensions of Wellness were developed by Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) as a way to promote health. Self-care has become a popular term within recent years, and this distinct framework puts self-care into practical terms. We all experience stress at times, but by learning about the 8 Dimensions of Wellness, participants will be at lower risk of substance abuse or other negative effects of those stressful events.

Training Workshop Audience & Goals

Who can Attend the 8 Dimensions of Wellness Workshop?

This is a flexible workshop that can be tailored in length depending on the audience. Youth groups and youth-led prevention coalitions, companies providing professional development, and anyone in a caretaking role will benefit from this workshop. 

What are the Goals of the Workshop?

Through this workshop, participants will learn how to incorporate each dimension into their lives and the lives of others. It includes an introduction to the 8 Dimensions of Wellness, demonstrates how each dimension works together, and provides examples for how to develop each dimension in both individual and community environments. Individuals will take a self-assessment as part of this workshop.
